Restorative Justice Consultant | Systems Strategist

Mashaun Ali Hendricks is a nationally respected Restorative Justice practitioner, educator, and artist. Widely recognized as the go-to trainer for Restorative Justice Philosophy and Peace Circle Keeper Training, Mashaun has spent over 15 years designing and delivering transformative experiences that deepen human connection and reimagine the way we build safety, accountability, and community. His work spans schools, law enforcement, court systems, and grassroots organizations—serving clients such as Chicago Public Schools, the Chicago Police Department, Cook County Courts, and a wide network of community-based partners across the Chicagoland area.

Rooted in lived experience, spiritual insight, and rigorous practice, Mashaun's philosophy of Restorative Justice moves beyond policy into paradigm. He teaches that when we form deep heart connections, the value of others to us increases so profoundly that compassion, cooperation, and courageous growth become a life requirement. Whether guiding a school culture shift, supporting healing in courtrooms, or creating immersive Peace Circle experiences, Mashaun brings bold vision, loving rigor, and a belief in the power of relationships to heal generations of harm.

In a society shaped by individualism, competition, and scarcity, Mashaun sees Restorative Justice as a return to Indigenous wisdom: a values-based way of being that centers interdependence, abundance, and collective care. He challenges systems to move beyond checking boxes and invites communities to build cultures where all members are seen, heard, and honored. Through his consulting, training, and public speaking, he helps institutions embody—not just implement—the truth of oneness, connection, and possibility.

What Is Restorative Justice?

A Working Definition by Mashaun Ali Hendricks

Restorative Justice, to me—from my lived experience, deep practice, and continued study—is about what becomes possible when we form deep heart connections in shared spaces: homes, classrooms, communities, work environments, courtrooms, and beyond.

These heart connections are so profound that they permanently increase the value of others to us—so much so that they demand compassion, cooperation, consideration, and curiosity. They make us willing—eager, even—to grow and change, even when it’s hard, painful, or requires us to shed old parts of ourselves.

We begin to see the letting go of outdated truths, assumptions, and defenses not as loss—but as sacred necessity for growth. We lean into authenticity, into curiosity, into connection. Restorative Justice, when practiced with integrity and alignment, uplifts the Truth that we are all one—and that many of the systems we live in are rooted in the lie of separation.

But too often, in systems that are not yet committed to transformation, RJ is reduced to:

  • A box to check

  • A funding opportunity

  • Something “we” (the authority) do for “them” (the community)

  • A reaction to harm, instead of a foundation for connection

  • A performance, not a practice

  • An unrealistic expectation

  • A waste of time
